Churches:  Oakdale-Emory

Members of the original Oakdale Emory Methodist Church display finery of 1908. The church core, built in 1835 at the intersection of Cashell Road and Emory Lane, contained a choir loft and "amen corner"--a place from which church dignitaries could frequently punctuate the sermon with a timely "Amen!" Veneered in stone in the 1950s, this earliest community Methodist church serves today as a private home. Today's Oakdale Emory enjoys a rich musical program.
