Schools:  Rockland

"...a Select School, in which Girls can obtain a thorough education under judicious and careful superintendence." So advertised the Rockland School for Girls. Another attraction: "A morning stage runs daily from Laurel Station, on the Washington Branch of the B&O Railroad, passing by the door." Operating from 1878 to 1892, Henry Clay Hallowell's Friends school taught both day students and boarders.
