New works by Gail Rebhan. An exhibit of photo-collages that are an unsentimental look at the cultural history of various locations in the Sandy Spring, Maryland area. Artist reception from 2 – 4 pm.
At 4 pm, Gail Rebhan will speak on the research she conducted while creating her collages, which incorporate photos, maps, letters, and other primary source documents. She will be joined by Eileen McGuckian, president of Montgomery Preservation, and Nicholas Redding, Executive Director of Preservation Maryland. Together they will lead a discussion of local historic properties and talk about what we can do to preserve them for future generations. This program will include unusual facts about historic sites (such as the Mutual Memorial Cemetery on Brooke Road, the Odd Fellows Lodge, the original Sandy Spring Bank, among others) plus descriptions of tools and resources that make restoration projects possible.
