Library and Archive
The Sandy Spring Museum is pleased to announce the expansion of its campus, and is set to build a new Library and Archive. The purpose of this new building is to address the urgent need to house valuable and fragile documents and artifacts. This new facility will store and showcase our library and special collections material in a state of the art facility.
The Museum holds a pivotal role in preserving the area's heritage. The addition of the Library and Archive will enable the museum to accept and manage a large collection of historical records of the community, compiled by various organizations since 1850, such as the Neighbors, Home Interest, Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company, Sandy Spring Bank, and various Farmers' Clubs. These documents are integral to those studying the history of the region, and will now be in one central location.
The Museum aims to break ground for the Library and Archive in 2005.
