"The Slave Ship: A Human History," a lecture and music program, co-sponsored by the Sandy Spring Slave Museum

Dr. Marcus Rediker, professor of history at University of Pittsburgh and author of The Slave Ship: A Human History, presents a collaborative lecture and musical program with Karen Somerville, renowned gospel and blues vocalist from Chestertown, Maryland. The program combines lecture, images and music into a powerful evocation of both the horrors of the Middle Passage and the human dignity of survivors.
