garden club
The Garden Club was established in 1992 by Mary Rice as an educational, outreach program for the museum. It serves the purpose of connecting the museum to the soil, as a community of farmers would have been. The club meets quarterly at the museum for educational lectures and hands on activities. The garden club is responsible for the care of the courtyard gardens and supports the museum at the Strawberry Festival and Holiday Greens sale. Novice and master gardeners are encouraged to join to learn and teach. Garden Club memberships are open to any museum member. Workshops The Sandy Spring Museum Garden Club offers workshops in early December for people who want to make their own holiday decorations. The Club provides the greens, ribbons, forms, etc. and members will share their expertise as they work. Sign up for a workshop and you’ll make two items, one for the Club to sell, and one to take home for your own enjoyment. The Workshops are always fun and it’s a great opportunity to learn new crafts and get to know members and friends better. Workshops are also a great way to introduce friends and potential new members to the Garden Club. The next workshop will be held December 1st to the 7th. More information coming soon. |
