In the wake of the US Presidential election, Ramon Tasat—a master musician, hazzan, and one of the museum’s folklife partners—is organizing “A Time to Embrace: A Ceremony Toward National Healing and Reconciliation.” The program will use the framework of Havdalah—a ritual at the end of the Jewish Sabbath—to separate from the divisiveness of the recent past and to build bridges of healing, hope, and reconciliation for the nation. The interfaith program will feature songs, words, and prayers from faith leaders across the world, as well as contributions from those providing artistic offerings in a spirit of national unity.
