Annual Membership MeetUp (and pie!)
Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The annual meeting is a chance for members to get caught up on museum happenings, mingle with other members, and celebrate the return to in-person gatherings.
The 2022 meeting will focus on the museum’s archives. In addition to digitizing the archives, we are also applying an equity lens to our work. What does this mean to us? It means that although nearly 100% of the items in our collection were created by white residents, they contain much information about the Black men and women who lived in Sandy Spring. Lydia Fraser, the museum’s archives and collections manager, and Leslie Rose, the museum’s Community Programs Coordinator, will share how we are identifying Black history stories and using this information to create new public programs.
We will also provide an overview of the museum’s new master plan, which will give members an opportunity to weigh in on some exciting ideas for the grounds.
Since the membership meeting will finally be held in person, you are welcome and encouraged to bring a pie to share. Pie eating at the spring membership meeting is a tradition that dates back about 7 years. You can help keep the tradition going by bringing your favorite pie.
