Commission for Women 50th Anniversary Celebration

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Commission for Women. To commemorate this milestone anniversary, featured speakers – including elected officials, allied organizations, and former and current members of the Commission – will memorialize the group’s history and achievements. The Commission will mark the event with the burial of a time capsule near the historical marker commemorating Sandy Spring’s suffragists.
The Commission for Women has proudly assisted thousands of women since 1972. Over the past five decades, the Commission has worked and adapted its programs and offerings to meet the needs of women through education and outreach, advocacy, direct service, and information and referral. Today, Commission for Women’s primary focus is to improve women’s lives by identifying inequities in law, policies, practices and procedures and by providing recommendations on making changes.
An indoor reception with light refreshments will follow the outdoor ceremony. In the event of rain, commemorative announcements will be conducted inside the museum.
