Fall Arts Sampler

Mixed Media Art: EZ Photo Transfers  

10:00 AM-12:00 PM

Discover an easy way to combine photography and collage work in this mixed media workshop. Led by artist Marcie Wolf-Hubbard, learn a simple photo transfer technique, the perfect way to add interest to a painting or creating unique pages for scrap-booking.

All supplies included. A list of optional items to make your artwork more personal will be sent to registered participants.  This workshop is open to all levels of experience, ages 16+.

Marcie Wolf-Hubbard received her B.A. from the University of Maryland in Studio Art and studied Fine Art & Illustration at the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Her paintings in encaustic (wax) and mixed media have been exhibited widely on the East Coast. Marcie is an instructor at Glen Echo Park, Yellow Barn Studios, and the Smithsonian.  Most recently, she received the 2022 Nancy Frankel Artist Award.

Painting with Wool

Explore the world of fiber arts in this beginner-friendly workshop. Led by artists Alla and Milana Borovskaia, learn a variety of needle-felting techniques from how to transform shapeless wool fibers into specific shapes to blending different colored wool to create a realistic look. Participants will be guided step-by-step to create a wool painting of a sunflower.

A $15 materials fee is to be paid directly to the artist on the day of the program. This workshop is open to all levels of experience, ages 16+.

Mother and daughter team Alla and Milana Borovskaia are the newest artists-in-residence at Sandy Spring Museum. Their artistic practice includes large-scale installations, sculpture, painting, and collage. Throughout their work, Alla and Milana use a combination of innovative materials and techniques alongside traditional craftsmanship. Through continuous experimentation, their artworks emphasize extraordinary aesthetics created from ordinary materials. Alla and Milana have exhibited their works of art in various museums and galleries across the United States.
