In-Person – Puerto Rico Distillery Pitorro (Moonshine) Tasting

Free admission, guests will purchase spirits directly from Puerto Rico Distillery.

Come out and enjoy a cocktail at one of the museum’s socially distanced picnic tables!  Join Puerto Rico Distillery for a pitorro (Puerto Rican moonshine) tasting on the museum grounds for MoCo Eats Week! In addition to the tasting, ready-to-drink 32 oz. cocktails and Clandestino Pitorro will be available for purchase.

Pitorro is a distilled spirit made from sugarcane molasses.  An integral part of the island’s culture, pitorro has been the true rum of Puerto Rico since the mid-1700s.  It is often homemade and a part of traditional Puerto Rican holiday celebrations.

Tastings are $5 for four half ounces of pitorro and/or cocktails. The tasting fees and 10% of sales will be donated to Sandy Spring Museum.  Click here to pre-order – click on Curbside Pickup.  *Please make a note on your order form to deliver to SSM on April 30.

Picnic tables are first-come-first-served. Guests are also welcomed to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets.  Masks are required unless you are seated at your table.

In the event of inclement weather, pre-orders can be picked up at the museum from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and a virtual tasting will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Zoom.
