Marble Carving Demonstration

In conjunction with the Karen S. Montgomery: A Sculptural Retrospective exhibit, Karen Montgomery will take you “behind the scenes” for a look at the process of marble carving and host an open forum for questions and answers about the artistic process.

Senator Montgomery will demonstrate reductive marble carving on an in-progress work of art. She will also teach attendees about the hand tools used in the process of sculpting. Visitors will see Montgomery’s carving in-action and can try their own hand at marble sculpting as well. Karen will end the demonstration by offering a brief tour of her works on exhibit, from the artist’s perspective.
