Resident Artist Open House

Sandy Spring Museum is home to eleven artists who work in a variety of mediums, teach classes and create wonderful works of original art.  Stop by on the first Saturday of any month to meet the artists, see them at work, and learn more about their craft.  You may want to purchase a one-of-a-kind gift for yourself or a friend.

For September, Robin Ziek, one of our resident ceramic artists will be the featured artist. Her recent work combines wheel-thrown and hand-built elements. The angles of hand-built work contrast with the centering of the wheel and she wants to express their different characters in single unified forms. She uses form, texture, and glaze materials to achieve this effort by developing her own symbols, shapes, and colors to enhance the clay as an expressive medium. On September 1st, Robin will be working on altering forms that she has thrown on the wheel. There will be many other completed examples on display too.
