Saree Conversations
Sunday, September 17 at 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Saree Conversations is a dynamic and interactive presentation of the history and meaning of the saree in Indian culture. This program will feature traditional Kuchipudi dance performances, saree wrapping demonstrations, a presentation by George Washington University professor Dr. Ashwini Tambe on the saree, gender, and Bollywood, and a panel discussion and audience Q&A. This event will also feature a display of sarees curated by Digital Archivist and Founder of Out of India Harriet Silva Vidyasagar. This two hour program will include an intermission where attendees can enjoy Indian snacks provided by Woodlands Restaurant.
This event is in partnership with the Sutradhar Institute of Dance and Related Arts (SIDRA).
