Songs and Stories from the Homefront
Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

A blend of music, photographs and readings from the Museum’s archives, ranging in time from the Civil War through 1917.
Featured readings by Michael Amster are the original words of William and Allan Farquhar, Ellen Stabler and Charles Brooke, complied from the Annals of Sandy Spring and historical documents from the Museum’s collection.
Also featured will be singer/songwriter, Andrew McKnight, who will perform original works. McKnight’s latest album and book, Treasures in My Chest, introduces a cast of spellbinding songs and stories drawn from his own recent journeys into family history. From placing you in the footsteps of his doomed Civil War ancestor Aretas Culver, to finding sparks of hope in the long winter nights on the shores of mid-1800s County Down, his vision, voice and pen have created a mesmerizing sweet spot deeply familiar to anyone who’s wondered, “Who am I and where did I come from?”
