Tattered Tiara

Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Who doesn’t love  (and need!) a tiara?  This workshop is designed to accomplish two creative things. First, you’ll learn how to make an armature – a structure out of wire, masking tape and aluminum foil.   An armature is the “foundation” of any sculptural artwork and building it correctly saves time and helps you avoid problems in the future.  Second, you will create a beautiful tiara or crown that you can wear or display as a beautiful art piece.

We will be using ribbons, silks, lace and fibers generously donated by ManneqART founder and fashion designer Lee Andersen, and lots of silk flowers and embellishments to adorn your tiara. Consider bringing some old costume jewelry or a favorite trinket to personalize your artwork.  Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter the 2017 ManneqART competition or Sandy Spring Museum’s Inner Light competition.  More information about their collaboration can be found here.

So bring your ideas and your bling, and we’ll work with you to get your project off on the right foot (or left foot, if you prefer!!).   Even if you are not entering the 2017 ManneqArt competition, this is still a great workshop to learn some new craft skills, have a day of artful fun, and go home as a queen.

Instructors:  Patti Euler, owner, The Queen’s Ink, Lee Andersen, ManneqART founder.

Cost:  $65,   Bring a light lunch with you.   Drinks and light snacks will be provided.
