The Spring Open Mic
Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Join us every Tuesday for the best open mic in Montgomery County. Hosted by rob Hinkal and Rowan Corbett, and in collaboration with the Institute of Musical Traditions, the Spring Open Mic welcomes all performers – beginners, pros, and everywhere in-between – as well as listeners, to the open air courtyard at Sandy Spring Museum. A featured artist will perform each week and the open mic will be livestreamed on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch (but performers must perform in-person!)
Featured Artist: Silence Echoez is a singer/songwriter from the DC area whose tunes come in flavors from café ambient to protest anthem. His music and his message emphasize reflection and action, combining influences such as Citizen Cope and Dispatch with icons such as Train and Bob Marley. As the drummer for bands including ilyAIMY and Most Savage Gentlemen, as well as the percussionist for “Goddess Rock” artist Emma G, he approaches songwriting with a nuanced sense of rhythm that often uses incorporates the influences of these musical groups as well. He has performed his original music at historical DC venues such as The Black Cat and The 930 Club, toured much of the US as well as New Zealand, and played by request for Universal Pictures at the Silver Spring, MD premier of the film Yesterday.
Pre-registration is required to perform and requested of all attendees.
A suggested donation of $10, which will go to the featured artist, can be paid through the registration link or in-person at the program.
Weather permitting, this program will occur outdoors. If weather conditions are predicted to be poor, we will notify all registrants by 1 pm the day of the event that the event will be held indoors. In that case, only the first 20 registrants will be allowed to attend, given COVID-19 restrictions.
For accommodation requests, please contact the museum via email or at (301) 774-0022.
