The Spring Open Mic
Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Join us each Tuesday night for The Spring Open Mic – where Montgomery County comes to play. The event features a different featured musician each week, in addition to welcoming performers of all levels to take the stage. Listeners, of course, are welcomed, too.
Sandy Spring Museum partners with rob Hinkal of ilyAIMY and rob’s Open Mics, and the Institute of Musical Traditions, to host The Spring Open Mic. The program is livestreamed on YouTube, but performers must be in person at the museum to participate.
This evening’s featured performers is The Oldgrass Stringband!
The Oldgrass Stringband is a DC based bluegrass group focused on traditional Bluegrass and Old-time tunes, Jazz standards, and original compositions that are inspired by all of the above. Founded by mandolinist Nick Cameron and guitarist Justin Heath and later adding Mari Carlson on fiddle and Gabby Cameron on banjo, the Oldgrass Stringband can bring the big sound of a full bluegrass band rich with exciting instrumental solos and beautiful vocal harmonies.
Registration is free. However, consider making a suggested donation of $10, which will help sustain the event. You can make your donation through the registration link below or in-person at the museum. We also encourage you to donate to our featured artist and/or purchase their music.
Performers can take the stage for two pieces or for a duration of ten minutes – whichever is shorter. No drum kits or amplifiers, please. House piano available. Should you have technical questions about the open mic and/or your performance, please contact rob Hinkal at (301) 910-2575 or rob@ilyaimy.com.
If you are a performer and registering non-performers, please make sure to register all non-performers using the audience registration option. We cap out performer registration at 11 but sometimes have last-minute cancellations. If you would like to get on the performer waiting list, please send an email to rob@ilyaimy.com.
Health Precautions: All attendees must present proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, taken within 48 hours of the program’s start. Attendees must wear facial coverings at all times, unless they are performing. Registration is limited to thirty people, in order to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 infection.
For accommodation requests, please contact the Museum via email (info@sandyspringmuseum.org) or phone at (301) 774-0022.
