Virtual – I Am More Than My Hair Documentary Screening and Artist Talk

A screening of artist Alyscia Cunningham’s 30-minute film I Am More Than My Hair, telling the stories of women who have lost their hair and exploring the meaning of beauty. Ms. Cunningham seeks to educate the viewer and bring awareness to alopecia (the partial or complete absence of hair from areas of the body where it normally grows).

The screening will be followed with a talk by Cunningham and a Q&A moderated by Day Al-Mohamed – Author, Filmmaker, and Disability Policy Expert with over 15 years of experience. She has written two novels: Baba Ali and the Clockwork Djinn and The Labyrinth’s Archivist. In addition, she is a regular host on Idobi Radio’s Geek Girl Riot with an audience of 80,000 listeners. She is a Founding Member of FWD-Doc (Documentary Filmmakers with Disabilities) and recently joined the Board of Docs in Progress. Her documentary, The Invalid Corps, about disabled Civil War soldiers, was recently licensed to Alaska Airlines and had its broadcast premiere on Maryland Public Television December 2020.
