Funding Opportunities for Folk Artists

Regional Opportunities – updated October 6, 2020

  • Maryland Traditions’ Heritage Award – nominations due October 15, 2020. The Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) is pleased to announce that nominations are open for 2021 Maryland Heritage Awards. The public is invited to nominate individuals, places, and traditions for outstanding achievement in traditional arts and culture. Awards are $5,000 each. Three winners will be selected and honored at a public ceremony.
  • Wheaton Cultural Project Grants– applications due October 16, 2020. WCPG support impactful projects within the Wheaton community and provide professional opportunities for artists and scholars to work in Wheaton.  Montgomery County-based nonprofit arts and humanities organizations, groups, artists, and scholars are invited to apply. The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County encourages proposals submitted by African, Latino/a, Asian, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) artists, arts organizations, and communities. The award amounts for WCPG range from $1,000 to $10,000. Projects can be virtual or in-person, following the socially distant guidelines required by the County.
  • MCHC Pathways Grants – Letters of Intent (LOIs) will be accepted through November 13, 2020. $200,000 in funding will be distributed to organizations working to explore, steward, and share Maryland’s diverse history and culture.  After approval of an LOI, organizations may submit a full application through December 11, 2021, to be considered for funding.
