Celebrate the talents and accomplishments of folk artists in Montgomery County. This program will feature performances by traditional artists—including Daryl Davis—and information for those who would like to apply for the apprenticeship program in the future. Learn more about the free services offered by Sandy Spring Museum’s Regional Folklife Center, including grant writing assistance, audio-visual support for virtual programs, and much more. The evening will conclude with time to meet and mingle with other traditional artists and art appreciators.
Each year since 2003, Maryland Traditions – the traditional arts program of the Maryland State Arts Council – has sponsored apprenticeships between master and learning artists, to sustain the folk arts of the state. In 2022, six of the thirteen apprenticeships included Montgomery County residents – an amazing achievement!
Light refreshments will be served.
