Shel Burton, Collections Assistant
Shel Burton is a Collections Assistant at Sandy Spring Museum, where her work focuses on preserving and interpreting the rich Black history of the Sandy Spring community. She is passionate about making historical materials more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences, with a strong commitment to inclusive archival practices. Her academic and professional interests include medical history, particularly the intersections of healthcare, community narratives, and historical memory. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Maryland, where she continues to build skills that support equitable access to information and cultural heritage.
