Folk Artists Demonstrator

Traditional Artists!
Share your cultural heritage
with
Strawberry Festival Attendees!

For the second year, Sandy Spring Museum is inviting traditional artists to host a demonstration of a cultural activity or tradition at the Strawberry Festival. Possible demonstrations can include activities, crafts, games, foodways, storytelling, or other ways of sharing your traditions and culture. Last year traditional artists hosted a paper cutting activity, a traditional Japanese fishing game, flamenco fan painting, and more!

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 am – 5 pm, and demonstrators must remain on site for the entire event.

Anyone is welcome to apply, but selection is not guaranteed as the Museum will make decisions to allow for a diversity of activities and cultures. We require demonstrations to be interactive and relatively simple, as visitors will continuously drop by your booth throughout the duration of the festival, so please consider this when applying. Selected applicants will receive an honorarium based on your proposed idea. If your proposal is accepted, consumable supplies will also be reimbursed up to $100 with receipts, or the museum will purchase supplies on your behalf.

Please be as clear as possible about your idea in your application.

Applications will be reviewed as they come in, so please apply early!
